| A 1986 graduate of Kent State University and 1989 graduate of The University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, Tom received his degree in baseball from the legendary Bavasi baseball family.
Receiving daily tutoring from former Dodger GM Buzzie, his sons Peter, former Toronto Blue Jay and Cleveland Indian president and longtime time minor league operator Bob, Tom was taught the business side of the baseball house in the tradition of Branch Rickey, Walter O’Malley and Ray Kroc.
During his tenure with the Gold Sox Tom has been responsible for negotiating lease agreements with the City of Marysville, securing the stadium naming rights agreement with Freedom Communications, owner of the Appeal-Democrat newspaper, negotiating television and radio broadcast agreements for the Gold Sox games, and brining in non-game day revenue sources such as MMA fights, local college graduations and the Gold Sox annual, Glory Days Fantasy baseball camps.
In 2010 Tom was named the Horizon Air Summer Series Executive of the Year and also received the Baseball America Summer Ball Conference Award for the Best Non Traditional Revenue Source for the Gold Sox “Battle at the Ballpark” MMA event
Tom, his wife Karyn and their sons Tommy and Spencer live in Fair Oaks, CA during the off season where Tom is the principal of Thomas D Lininger & Associates, Attorneys at Law.
